Cloud – based coffee software provider Flexnet is set to make its grand entrance into the United States market at next month’s SCA Expo in Houston.
Founded in Australia by Caleb Sexton, a veteran in the specialty coffee industry, the software is meticulously crafted for coffee roasting enterprises. It offers customized solutions for customer relationship management (CRM), sales, production, and reporting.
The software operates on a monthly subscription model, with prices commencing at $175 per month. The actual cost, however, is determined by the volume of coffee processed through the system. As Sexton, who also holds the position of Flexnet’s CEO, recently told DCN, “We believe this is the most equitable pricing approach as it directly correlates to the value we provide – the capacity to scale your coffee roastery. Additionally, it means that during slower months, the cost is lower.”
Unlike some software focused on production tasks like green coffee sourcing or roast profiling, Flexnet is decidedly centered around the business management of roasteries. The company emphasizes that the software package is designed to streamline roasters’ business operations, reducing their dependence on disjointed spreadsheets or non – integrated software – as – a – service (SaaS) tools. The Flexnet system is engineered to integrate seamlessly with popular third – party accounting and payment software such as QuickBooks, Shopify, WooCommerce, and Microsoft Dynamics 365.
Based in Melbourne, Flexnet already counts clients across three continents, from small, artisanal shops to multi – location businesses. Sexton established Flexnet following nearly 16 years of work at Melbourne – based Five Senses Coffee. Starting as a delivery driver while studying computer science, he gradually took on various production and administrative roles within the company.
Sexton shared, “Over the past 15 years, I’ve specialized in technology, roastery management systems, and data solutions. At Five Senses, I developed an all – encompassing software system that addressed almost every challenge a growing coffee roastery encounters – handling intricate customer relationships, managing increasing order volumes, dealing with custom blends, inventory, equipment servicing, and numerous other coffee – roaster – specific details.”
He also provided some coffee – specific examples of how the Flexnet software can be utilized. These include generating a summary of production roasting requirements based on orders and a reminder system that nudges busy cafe clients who may have overlooked placing orders to meet their shop’s demands.
Flexnet will have a booth at the 2025 SCA Expo, which will be held from April 25 – 27.
