Pret A Manger has introduced its first full – service concept on a global scale at the Phoenix Mall of the Millennium in Pune, India.
Pano Christou, the CEO of the coffee and food – to – go chain, stated that the 1,000 – square – foot store is designed to meet the changing consumer preferences for fresh, high – quality food. It also capitalizes on India’s strong cultural tradition of shared family mealtimes.
Christou said, “India has presented a unique re – imagining of Pret. The nation’s rich heritage of communal dining has inspired us to introduce our very first full – service concept. This concept unites people over fresh, top – notch food served right at their tables. We are dedicated to extending our signature Pret experience to more customers, harmoniously blending global flavors with local tastes to create something both recognizable and novel.”
Departing from its traditional grab – and – go model, Pret has now added table service. The sit – down menu features items such as the Chicken Super Club, Pret Pickle and Chicken Sausage & Egg Croissant sandwiches, along with the Four Berry Chia Bowl and Fajita Cottage Cheese Hot Wrap.
Established in London, UK, in 1986, Pret A Manger was acquired by the Luxembourg – headquartered conglomerate JAB Holding company in 2018 for a reported $1.5 million. In June 2022, the chain entered into a franchise agreement with Mumbai – based Reliance Brands Limited to enter the Indian market. At that time, it planned to open 100 stores within five years. Since its debut in India with a store in Mumbai in April 2023, Pret has expanded to 19 stores in this South Asian nation.
Pret operates over 700 outlets across 20 markets worldwide, with nearly three – quarters of them located in the UK. In 2024, international revenues contributed a quarter of the chain’s revenues, which exceeded $1 billion.
