Chris and Liza Salzarulo, a husband-and-wife team from Frankfort, Indiana, have opened the city’s newest BIGGBY® COFFEE franchise, inspired by the brand’s friendly atmosphere and strong community values.
Before entering the world of coffee, Chris spent 20 years as an elementary school teacher, while Liza built a successful career in the vacation industry. When the COVID-19 pandemic changed their paths, they decided it was time to start something of their own.
A trip to Traverse City, Michigan, introduced them to BIGGBY®. After several visits, they were drawn in by the welcoming environment and the company’s mission of spreading kindness and connection.
“BIGGBY® promises to be a friendly coffee community and a positive light in the community,” said Liza. “That was important to us. We want people to feel comfortable, to be themselves, and to know that we care about them.”
The couple also appreciated BIGGBY®’s commitment to ethical sourcing and its use of 100% farm-direct coffee. These values, along with the brand’s inclusive spirit, convinced them it was the right fit for Frankfort.
Now open near the Walmart on Wabash Street, the new location has created 25 jobs and offers both in-store and drive-thru service. The Salzarulos are especially focused on delivering quick and friendly service in the busy area.
“People always ask if we plan to open more locations,” said Chris. “We’re not ruling it out, but right now our goal is to make this one successful. We want to build a business that people love and trust.”
With their new venture, Chris and Liza hope to offer more than just coffee—they aim to bring a sense of connection and care to every customer who walks through the door.
