Javalujah Coffee House, a nonprofit coffee shop run by Calvary Chapel Sierra Vista, is bringing people together by hosting monthly social events. The coffee shop, which is mainly run by volunteers, stays open outside of its regular hours to welcome community members for these gatherings.
In March, the coffee house held its first Friday Night Fellowship, a social event they plan to continue every month for the rest of the year. At these events, attendees can enjoy games, free food, and the regular coffee menu.
Pastor Matthew Turner, assistant pastor at Calvary Chapel Sierra Vista, said, “I think people really desire that feeling of being involved.” He explained that the purpose of Friday Night Fellowship is to provide a simple, family-friendly event where people can come together and socialize.
The next Friday Night Fellowship will take place on April 11, from 6 to 8 PM, at Javalujah Coffee House, located at 1155 E Wilcox Drive.
Turner emphasized that the event is open to people of all ages. Javalujah Coffee House volunteer Kathryn Merrymon, 34, added that it’s a great opportunity to meet new people outside of your usual social circle. “It’s a good chance for different age groups to mix, which doesn’t happen very often,” Merrymon said.
