Costa Coffee has made an unpopular change to its menu, removing the option to have cinnamon buns heated in-store. The coffee chain confirmed the decision was driven by health and safety concerns.
The cinnamon bun, a staple of Costa Coffee’s menu, is a sweet dough pastry filled with cinnamon and sugar, topped with cream cheese icing. It has long been a customer favorite, with many patrons preferring it warm. Previously, customers could request the buns be heated at most locations.
However, recent complaints on social media prompted Costa Coffee to address the change. Customers expressed disappointment at no longer being able to enjoy their pastries warmed up. In response, the company explained that they stopped offering the service after several reports of people burning their mouths on the hot icing.
The move has sparked frustration among fans of the cinnamon bun, with one customer commenting that they were “absolutely gutted” by the change.
