The Golden Roast, a long-time favorite among University of Tennessee students and local coffee lovers, has announced it will close all its locations on Thursday, April 24.
The news came in a statement posted to the café’s Instagram account on Monday.
“After much reflection, we’ve made the tough choice to close our retail coffee shop locations,” the post read. “The Golden Roast (all locations) will be closing on April 24th.”
For more than 30 years, The Golden Roast has been known for its locally roasted coffee and welcoming atmosphere — particularly as a popular study spot for students.
In the lead-up to the closure, all merchandise and retail coffee bags will be offered at 50% off this week.
No additional details were given regarding the reason for the closure, but the post expressed gratitude to customers for their support over the decades.
