Celtic Cup Coffee, located at 8455 Colesville Road, Suite 101B in Silver Spring, is set to host its grand opening on Saturday, April 26. The celebration will feature live Irish traditional music, a dance demonstration by the Culkin School of Irish Dance, coffee roasting demos, prize giveaways, and an official ribbon-cutting ceremony, which will include a land acknowledgement.
The shop promises to provide a personalized coffee experience for every customer. According to Celtic Cup Coffee, they believe the best way to serve coffee is by working closely with each individual to find the perfect bean, roast, and preparation method. The process requires strong communication skills, flexibility, and high-quality, responsibly sourced ingredients. The coffee is expertly crafted by a roast master with over 25 years of experience.
Doug Ilg, the founder of Celtic Cup Coffee, transitioned into the coffee industry after more than 30 years in computer science, including work with NASA. He developed methods for handling environmental satellite data. Now, Doug is passionate about helping his community explore new ways to brew coffee at home.
Doug’s love for coffee began when he was a child. He fondly recalls his first experience with coffee at the age of six or eight when he begged his parents to let him drink a cup. His first taste was a simple carafe of hot water mixed with Sanka® instant coffee.
