Vietnamese coffee exports to Spain have witnessed a remarkable surge, surpassing 100% growth in value, according to recent data.
Statistics from the Agency of Foreign Trade under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, citing figures from the General Department of Customs, reveal that Vietnamese coffee exports to the Spanish market totaled around 55,380 tonnes during the initial four months of the current year. This export volume amounted to a substantial value of $193.1 million, marking a notable increase of 53.7% in volume and an impressive 136.6% surge in value compared to the corresponding period last year.
In April alone, Vietnam exported 10,740 tonnes of coffee to Spain, valued at $42.66 million. This reflects an 18.7% rise in volume and a remarkable 102.8% increase in value year-on-year.
The average export price of Vietnamese coffee to Spain in April stood at $3,971 per tonne, demonstrating a month-on-month increase of 9.1% and a significant 70.8% rise year-on-year.
Over the initial four months, the average export price of Vietnamese coffee to the Spanish market reached $3,487 per tonne, showing a substantial 53.9% surge compared to the same period last year.
Notably, robusta coffee prices on domestic markets have experienced an upward trend after previously dipping below VNĐ100,000 per kilogram ($4). However, the robust recovery of coffee prices has been somewhat restrained by favorable weather conditions in the Central Highlands and fluctuations in exchange rates.
As of the latest update, coffee prices continued to climb, ranging between VNĐ115,700 and 117,200 per kilogram ($4.39 – $4.55).
