Moroccan-inspired heritage brand Bacha Coffee has made its debut in Indonesia by opening a store in Jakarta’s Plaza Senayan shopping center.
The newly launched 4,300-square-foot venue features a coffee bar and a takeaway counter, catering to both dine-in and on-the-go customers. Operated by franchisee Erajaya Food and Nourishment, the store also boasts a retail coffee boutique offering 200 varieties of packaged coffee.
Erajaya Food and Nourishment, which also runs licensed Paris Baguette stores in Indonesia, is behind this latest venture.
Founded in Marrakech in 1910, Bacha Coffee has a rich history. The brand ceased operations after World War II but was revitalized by Singapore-based V3 Gourmet in 2019. Today, Bacha Coffee sources its beans from over 35 coffee-producing countries.
In December 2022, V3 Gourmet opened a Bacha Coffee outlet at Singapore’s Changi Airport Terminal 3, distinguished by its illuminated glass arches and towering library of coffee canisters.
Bacha Coffee’s expansion across Southeast Asia includes 16 stores in Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and now Indonesia. The brand also has a presence in Morocco, France, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Kuwait, and Qatar. In March 2024, a Bacha Coffee store was launched in Doha’s Villaggio Mall.
Continuing its growth trajectory, Bacha Coffee plans to enter the South Korean market with a store in Seoul set to open in July, facilitated by a franchising agreement with Lotte Department Store.
