BLACKSBURG, Va. (WDBJ) – Coffeeholics, renowned for its distinctive coffee beverages and cozy ambiance, has become a beloved destination in Blacksburg. Owners Lilly and Al sought to add a unique element to further distinguish their café.
“We wanted something that resonates with the town while also reflecting the essence of our shop without overtly advertising,” Al explained.
Their vision materialized as the largest mural in Blacksburg, a masterpiece completed in just 10 days by artist Jon Murill.
“This is pure freehand freestyle. He didn’t use any structured plans or tools. It’s impressive and incredible,” Al marveled.
The mural captures the essence of the invigorating effect coffee has on enthusiasts like Lilly and Al. Depicting an owl, symbolizing the nocturnal nature of avid coffee drinkers, the artwork has already captivated their patrons.
“We receive numerous comments saying it’s the best art piece they’ve ever seen. It’s beautiful, it’s lovely, and it definitely grabs their attention,” Lilly shared.
The owners hope the mural will also draw more visitors to Draper Road.
“The area depends heavily on foot traffic. This mural will attract more people to walk here, becoming a landmark and gathering spot,” Al said.
Lilly and Al are thrilled with their new addition and are excited about future projects for Coffeeholics.
