In Nova Scotia, a unique initiative has emerged where a love for animals meets the aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans. Rescue Coffee, founded by entrepreneur Katie Lunn, not only offers a variety of fair-trade, organically grown coffee blends roasted locally in Canada but also pledges 10 percent of its profits to support animal rescue organizations.
Lunn, who took over the business approximately a year and a half ago, spoke passionately about the shared values and goals she inherited from the original creator and founder. “We are both huge animal lovers and wanted to create a platform to give back to partner shelters, helping to rescue dogs and all other animals,” she explained in an interview with CTV’s Crystal Garrett.
Among the lineup of Rescue Coffee’s offerings are wake & wag, black dog espresso, go fetch, bark & bite, and downward dog decaf. When asked about customer favorites, Lunn highlighted wake & wag, black dog espresso, and go fetch, noting that her personal preference leans towards the robust flavor of black dog espresso.
Beyond the product itself, Lunn expressed a commitment to supporting local businesses within the Maritimes and empowering women-owned enterprises. “Keeping sales and business local here is important to me. I also take great pride in backing fellow women entrepreneurs,” she added.
Rescue Coffee stands not only as a purveyor of quality coffee but also as a beacon of community support and animal advocacy, driven by the passion and dedication of its owner, Katie Lunn.
