The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has extended his congratulations to Cosmos Trade Nigeria Limited on the inauguration of Gelato and Coffee University in Lagos.
Represented by the State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka, Governor Sanwo-Olu praised the institution as a significant achievement for both Cosmos Trade and Nigeria’s culinary and entrepreneurial sectors.
Governor Sanwo-Olu highlighted the importance of culinary arts, noting that they transcend mere nourishment and encompass culture, innovation, and economic empowerment. He lauded the establishment of Gelato and Coffee University as a visionary initiative that demonstrates a strong commitment to diversifying the economy, fostering entrepreneurship, and nurturing talent.
“Today, Cosmos takes their mission further by creating an educational platform to train, inspire, and empower the next generation of culinary artists and entrepreneurs. Cosmos Africa has established itself as a reputable leader in the industry,” Sanwo-Olu remarked.
The Governor emphasized that the University is not just a place of learning but also a hub of creativity and innovation. It is a space where passion meets expertise, where traditional methods are harmonized with modern techniques, and where local ingredients are showcased on a global stage.
“The skills and knowledge imparted at the university will elevate the standards of Gelato and Coffee making in Nigeria, creating new opportunities for economic growth and employment,” he added.
Mr. Tunji Olaniyi, the Managing Director of Cosmos Trade Nigeria and Founder of Gelato and Coffee University, explained that the idea for the University arose from the need to train clients properly in the business, ensuring adherence to food safety protocols and correct product preparation. He stressed that the company’s success is intertwined with the success of its clients.
Olaniyi noted that the University caters to two primary groups: entrepreneurs who own coffee shops and individuals seeking skill acquisition for employment in the hospitality sector.
Expressing his gratitude to the Lagos State Government for its support, Olaniyi affirmed the company’s commitment to responding to market and client demands.
