Snapchill has initiated a voluntary recall of all its canned coffee products due to concerns over processing violations that could result in botulism contamination, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The FDA reported that these violations might enable the growth of the lethal botulinum toxin.
Botulism is a serious form of food poisoning caused by bacteria proliferating in improperly sterilized preserved foods, including canned beverages. Symptoms of botulism include muscle weakness, paralysis, and respiratory difficulties.
Snapchill’s canned coffee products, available in 7 oz and 12 oz cans, are distributed nationwide under various brand names.
No illnesses have been reported so far. Consumers are urged to dispose of the products or return them to the place of purchase or Snapchill directly for a refund.
