Vienna, VA – Qamaria, renowned for its Yemeni coffee heritage, has launched its inaugural brick-and-mortar establishment in the D.C. metropolitan area. The newly opened cafe, situated at 124 Maple Avenue West in Vienna, began welcoming patrons on May 21st following a successful soft opening.
Originating from Dearborn, Michigan, Qamaria first introduced its unique coffee offerings to the D.C. region via a mobile truck last July, stationed primarily at 3400 Payne Street in Bailey’s Crossroads. The mobile truck will continue to operate at this location alongside various events, as confirmed by the company to FFXnow.
Sanad Mashgari, Chief Operating Officer of Qamaria, expressed excitement about the cafe’s debut, stating, “We are thrilled to finally establish a physical presence in the DMV area. While our brand has flourished through mobile and private events, this new location marks a significant milestone in offering the community a distinctive Yemeni coffee experience. I am incredibly proud of our team and look forward to continued success.”
Named after qamariyas, traditional stained-glass windows in Yemeni architecture, Qamaria prides itself on sourcing coffee beans exclusively from Yemen, where they have been part of cultural heritage for centuries. Local master roasters collaborate closely with Qamaria to achieve optimal flavor profiles before distributing the beans to their cafes and retail outlets.
Following its debut in Dearborn in 2021, Qamaria has expanded through franchising, boasting 16 locations across Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Texas, California, and now Virginia. The company plans to add four more locations in the coming months, including a new cafe in Charlotte, North Carolina, marking its continued growth on the East Coast.
In Vienna, Qamaria has created a modern and chic coffee shop with a serene atmosphere, designed for guests to relax and connect over specialty beverages brewed from a warm kettle. The menu features a variety of offerings, from coffee and lattes to tea and hot cocoa, often infused with traditional Yemeni spices and available as iced beverages or with non-dairy milk. Smoothies, such as strawberry and mango, complement a selection of pastries including honeycomb bread and croissants.
A grand opening celebration is anticipated in the near future, promising appearances by local dignitaries and light refreshments, according to a recent press release. “This expansion into the Vienna market signifies Qamaria Coffee’s commitment to providing exceptional coffee experiences beyond its traditional markets,” the business affirmed.
Qamaria Coffee welcomes visitors in Vienna from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday through Sunday, inviting coffee enthusiasts to indulge in a taste of Yemeni coffee culture within a welcoming and vibrant setting.
