At least 5 people were killed and 20 others injured in a devastating explosion outside a bustling coffee shop in Mogadishu, Somalia, on Sunday, as reported by the Associated Press.
The explosion occurred when a car packed with explosives detonated outside the café where football enthusiasts had gathered to watch the Euro 2024 final between England and Spain, according to Somali police spokesman Abdifitah Aden Hassa.
Witnesses described scenes of chaos following the blast. “Some of the spectators were injured while trying to jump the perimeter wall of the café, and others were wounded in a stampede,” said witness Ismail Adan.
