Glennville Business Owner Offers Free Coffee After Trump Assassination Attempt

by Jessica

GLENNVILLE, Ga. (WSAV) – In the wake of a tumultuous weekend marked by violence and an attempted assassination on Former President Donald Trump, a local business owner is aiming to foster unity and dialogue with a simple gesture of goodwill: a free cup of coffee.

Caleb Folsom, owner of The Proper Coffee Shop and Library, believes that in times of heightened emotions—from anger to fear—acts of kindness can help bridge divides and spark important conversations.

“We have the ability to show kindness and love to others, even in disagreement,” Folsom said. “It’s no secret there’s a lot of division and anger in our society.”

Although Glennville is a small town, Folsom is convinced that positive change can start at the community level. Regular customer Sophia McMillan appreciates this initiative, noting its impact.

“With everything happening lately, coming here for a coffee—hot or cold—can ease your mind, spirit, and soul,” McMillan said.

Chesley Woods, both a customer and a friend of Folsom, was not surprised by The Proper’s gesture. He believes such acts of kindness promote mutual respect and understanding despite differing beliefs.

“As citizens, we have the right to hold various beliefs. Practicing those beliefs should not harm others, but in a free society, we must respect different viewpoints,” Woods remarked.

Folsom’s message is clear: regardless of political beliefs, violence is never the solution.

“The recent events have made us all realize the tense political climate we’re in. We need to focus on unity, not division,” Folsom said.

As a Christian-based establishment, The Proper emphasizes looking beyond political figures for hope and guidance.

“Our prayer is for people to seek hope beyond themselves and their surroundings. As a Christian business, we point to the gospel and the hope of salvation through Jesus Christ. Unity, equality, and togetherness are promises in God’s word, attainable through faith in Jesus,” Folsom explained.

Folsom invites anyone to visit The Proper Coffee Shop for open conversations and can also be reached through their business Facebook page.
