Sutto Caffe Lounge in Hastings is marking a milestone with a generous gesture towards its patrons. Owner Jay Wang, acknowledging the financial strains faced by many, has slashed the price of all regular coffees to just $2 for three days, in celebration of the cafe’s 15th anniversary.
Reflecting on the challenges overcome, including weathering a cyclone, navigating pandemic uncertainties, and enduring downtown construction, Wang expressed gratitude towards his loyal clientele. “Despite the hurdles, our customers have been incredibly supportive,” he shared with Hawke’s Bay Today.
Since taking over in 2017, Wang has aimed to cultivate a welcoming ambiance akin to family, offering local cuisine with a personal touch. “It’s not about being the best; it’s about making everyone feel at home,” he explained.
With an eye to the future, Wang plans to maintain affordable pricing and has already begun reducing menu costs. The $2 coffee promotion has proven popular, drawing a steady flow of delighted customers throughout the week.
