Pret A Manger is ending its popular “free” coffee subscription in favor of a new offer starting September. Previously, subscribers paid £30 a month for up to five free coffees daily. The new plan will provide up to five half-price coffees daily for £10 a month and will remove the 20% discount on food.
This change has led to backlash on social media, with many customers dissatisfied with the reduction in benefits. Retail experts note that while the new model may be financially beneficial for Pret, it risks losing customer loyalty.
Pret’s decision aligns with similar adjustments by other coffee chains, such as Costa Coffee and Starbucks, who have also modified their loyalty programs in response to rising costs and economic pressures.
