A new coffee drive-thru, approved for the Marriott Hotel site on Stratford Road, Warwick, has sparked concerns about potential traffic chaos. The drive-thru will be located near the Longbridge roundabout, which connects to Junction 15 of the M40 motorway and shares access with The Peacocks cul-de-sac.
Local officials and residents worry that the addition of the drive-thru could worsen existing traffic problems, exacerbated by nearby businesses like McDonald’s and Holiday Inn Express. Despite these concerns, the Warwick District Council’s planning committee approved the development, citing a lack of alternative sites.
John Holland, county councillor for Warwick West, criticized the decision, arguing that the traffic analysis was misleading. Councillor Judy Falp and Councillor Richard Dickson also voiced concerns about traffic congestion, though the absence of objections from the highways department left the committee with few options.
