SALEM — Margaret’s Coffee House, located on Franklin Avenue, continued its cherished tradition of philanthropy with a generous $150 contribution to the Salem Food Pantry on Tuesday.
This annual donation honors Margaret Shivers, the late mother of the cafe’s owner, Paul Shivers. The contribution, marking what would have been Margaret Shivers’ 101st birthday, was made in her memory and reflects her enduring legacy of community service.
Paul Shivers chose the Salem Food Pantry as the recipient of this year’s donation, believing it embodies his mother’s spirit of generosity. The pantry was selected not only for its alignment with Margaret Shivers’ values but also for its focus on supporting the local community where the Shivers family has deep roots.
General Manager Sarah Marshall highlighted the significance of the donation, stating, “Margaret Shivers was deeply committed to giving back to her community, family, and children. Each year, this donation serves as a tribute to her memory and her values.”
Salem Food Pantry Director Marya Moore expressed her appreciation for the ongoing support from the cafe and the community. “Community involvement like this is invaluable. It’s wonderful to see local families giving back to their beloved community, and contributions like these have a profound impact,” Moore remarked.
The donation underscores the cafe’s dedication to maintaining its founder’s legacy of compassion and support for local organizations.
