The Global Coffee Platform (GCP) has officially endorsed four new sustainability schemes, advancing its mission to promote eco-friendly practices in the coffee industry.
GCP Executive Director Annette Pensel praised these schemes for their alignment with coffee sustainability principles. The total number of recognized sustainability schemes has now reached 23, marking significant progress in sector unity.
Senior Manager Mario Vega noted that this diverse group, including a cooperative, two exporters, and a trader, contributes to a unified baseline for sustainability. The Coffee SR Code, a key framework for sustainability practices, is now supported by these new schemes.
GCP’s Equivalence Mechanism, in partnership with the International Trade Centre (ITC), ensures that these schemes meet the Coffee SR Code’s standards. Newly recognized schemes include Cooxupé’s Gerações, Comexim’s Green Trace, Perhusa’s ARTS, and Touton’s.
