Brews Energy, a new mobile coffee shop at 410 Third St., Sherrard, is serving up energy drinks, smoothies, refreshers, lattes, and frappes from a trailer. Katlyn Justice, General Manager, saw an opportunity to introduce mobility into the local coffee scene, aiming to bring the service to various locations and events.
Justice’s inspiration stemmed from observing Sherrard High School students traveling out of town for their caffeine needs. “During my two years as a substitute teacher at Sherrard High School, I noticed students frequently arriving with drinks from other places. I thought we could provide a more convenient option right here,” Justice said.
The community’s response has been positive. Senior Nadia Anderson remarked on the convenience of the new location, “It’s super convenient, and makes it easy. Like in the morning, just coming to Sherrard instead of going to Rock Island or somewhere else.” Fellow senior Rylan Carton also praised the new shop, stating, “It’s definitely a big deal. It’s drawing a lot of people and bringing the community together.”
Brews Energy, which opened last week, plans a grand opening event the weekend of August 17. The shop is currently operating from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, and 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, though hours may be adjusted.
