Construction has commenced on a new Scooter’s Coffee drive-through shop located on North Roan Street in Johnson City’s Boones Creek area.
According to a recently issued building permit, the new establishment will feature a 664-square-foot structure with a surrounding drive-through lane, situated at 4709 N. Roan St., adjacent to a Hardee’s restaurant.
This will be the first Scooter’s Coffee location in Johnson City, complementing existing stores in Kingsport and Greeneville. The Kingsport store, located in Colonial Heights, was opened by McDavid in 2022.
McDavid cited the Boones Creek area’s lack of coffee shops and its rapid growth as reasons for choosing this site. “The Boones Creek area is underrepresented in terms of coffee options and is expanding quickly,” McDavid noted. “This location is ideal for us—situated on the morning side of the road to capture commuters heading into town.”
Scooter’s Coffee, a Nebraska-based chain with a presence throughout the Eastern U.S., emphasizes its core values of exceptional service, high-quality beverages, and fast service, according to McDavid. “Our drive-through service is designed to deliver on these three promises,” he said.
The chain’s website highlights the “Caramelicious” as its signature beverage. Scooter’s offers a variety of hot and iced drinks, teas, smoothies, and a select breakfast menu.
