ZUS Coffee, Malaysia’s largest coffee chain, has praised Sarawak’s initiatives to bolster its coffee industry, expressing interest in incorporating locally sourced coffee beans into its product offerings in the future.
“We’re thrilled to see Sarawak’s food ministry taking steps to promote coffee cultivation. ZUS Coffee is eager to collaborate with local farmers and the ministry to make this vision a reality,” said Venon Tian, Chief Operating Officer of ZUS Coffee, during the launch of the brand’s ‘Made in Malaysia’ nationwide tour.
Tian emphasized the company’s commitment to working with local players to potentially include East Malaysian coffee beans in their lineup. “Our product team is exploring the possibility of using Sarawakian coffee beans in our offerings. The current focus is on encouraging farmers to produce quality coffee beans. We’re making efforts to incorporate more localized flavors into our products,” he shared in an interview with The Borneo Post.
The ‘Made in Malaysia’ tour, which kicked off over the weekend, underscores ZUS Coffee’s dedication to showcasing Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage and diverse flavors. The event featured a vibrant bazaar highlighting a variety of Sarawakian vendors, including Natural Remedy, To Melt For, Elly Loe Handcrafts, Bricky Lab DIY, Themuq Natural Soap, Nutonuto Coconut, Daisy Dalia, Crustnflakekch, Fuku-fuku, Puff.lab, and Song Prettybell.
The tour not only celebrates products ‘Made in Malaysia’ but also highlights the innovative spirit that has become the backbone of ZUS Coffee. “We are excited to start this nationwide celebration in Sarawak, a region renowned for its cultural diversity and home to 27 distinct ethnic groups,” Tian remarked.
He further noted, “The ‘Made in Malaysia’ tour is our way of honoring Malaysia’s traditions and craftsmanship while looking toward the future with innovation and creativity to better serve the diverse tastes of Malaysians.”
This tour also marks the fifth anniversary of ZUS Coffee, a milestone reflecting the brand’s commitment to quality and community engagement. Key partners such as HYGR, Spritzer, and POS Malaysia are collaborating with ZUS Coffee on this journey, which will culminate in a grand finale music festival at Genting Highlands on November 2, 2024.
