AgriFutures Australia has released the “Australian Coffee Growers’ Manual,” a vital resource aimed at enhancing the country’s high-quality coffee production. Ellen Buckle, Senior Manager of Levied and Emerging Industries at AgriFutures Australia, emphasizes the manual’s role in meeting the growing domestic and international demand for Australian coffee.
The guide, crafted by horticulture specialists David Peasley and Jos Webber, serves both seasoned and prospective coffee growers. It covers essential topics including site selection, plantation setup, pest management, and harvesting, with a strong focus on sustainability and biosecurity.
The manual features comprehensive sections on biosecurity protocols, coffee tree biology, site preparation, and plantation management, alongside expert insights and the latest research updates.
Jos Webber, co-author, highlights the manual’s purpose: “Our aim is to empower Australian coffee growers with the necessary knowledge to produce superior coffee in a sustainable manner. By combining our expertise, we aspire to build a robust coffee-growing community that can meet rising local and global demand for premium Australian coffee.”
The initiative continues AgriFutures Australia’s commitment to the coffee sector, following previous works such as the Australian Coffee Strategic RD&E Plan and studies on enhancing coffee demand and investment.
