Singapore — Fast-growing Malaysian coffee chain ZUS Coffee is set to make its debut in Singapore by the end of 2024, with a new location opening in Changi Airport’s Terminal 4.
Founded in 2019, ZUS Coffee has rapidly expanded its footprint, operating 550 outlets in Malaysia and an additional 46 locations in the Philippines, its only international market to date. The new Singaporean store will join other prominent coffee brands such as Starbucks, Paris Baguette, and The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf in Changi Airport’s fourth terminal.
Singapore’s appeal to international coffee chains has surged in the past year, driven by increasing out-of-home coffee consumption, high per capita income, and a favorable business environment. This trend is particularly evident among Southeast Asian coffee operators looking to broaden their regional presence.
In the past year, several international coffee brands have entered the Singapore market, including Indonesian chains Kopi Kenangan, Fore Coffee, and Tomoro Coffee. Additionally, Taiwan’s Louisa Coffee, South Korea’s Compose Coffee, and China’s Greybox Coffee have also made their mark in the affluent city-state.
According to the World Coffee Portal’s Project Café East Asia 2024 report, the branded coffee shop market in Singapore is expected to reach 1,250 outlets by 2029, reflecting the city’s growing significance in the global coffee industry.
