A beloved Leesburg establishment has undergone a transformation this summer. King Street Coffee, a longtime local favorite, has been rebranded as Second Nature Coffee, reopening under new ownership just a few weeks after its initial closure.
The new owners—Belal El-Atari, Dan Tufts, and Nikki Sicilian—who also manage Buffalo Wing Factory’s five locations, have introduced the updated coffee shop. Although it may seem unusual for a wing-centric team to delve into coffee, Sicilian noted that the transition aligns perfectly with their long-standing aspirations.
“For years, we’ve envisioned expanding our portfolio to include a coffee shop,” Sicilian explained. “We wanted to create a space where we and the community could hang out.”
All three owners are Leesburg residents and frequent patrons of the former King Street Coffee. “When the opportunity to take over this cherished spot arose, it felt like a dream come true,” Sicilian said.
Second Nature Coffee preserves much of the original charm that made King Street Coffee so beloved. Loyal customers will be pleased to find that the shop continues to serve Lone Oak coffee, with familiar staff members who have stayed on board.
“The entire team from King Street Coffee has remained with us,” Sicilian confirmed. “We haven’t hired anyone new or let anyone go. Maintaining the same staff is important to our customers.”
Improvements are on the horizon for the coffee shop. The new owners plan to expand the food menu, incorporate more local products, and redesign the interior. Efforts are underway to make popular syrups in-house, utilize local honey, and offer herbal teas crafted by local herbalists. Local artisans, such as those from White Hearth Pottery, have contributed to the shop’s new mugs.
Sicilian, who has long admired local artisans, is thrilled to collaborate with them in this new venture. “It’s been amazing to connect with my favorite local creators and involve them in our business,” she said.
To celebrate the reopening, Second Nature Coffee will host a grand opening event on Friday. The festivities will commence with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 3:30 p.m., followed by a parking lot party starting at 5 p.m. The celebration will feature an artisan market, face painting, tea and coffee tastings, sweet treats, and live music.
