After three years since acquiring the building, Mudhouse Coffee Roasters is poised to make its long-awaited move to King Street. This week, the owner submitted a special use permit application to renovate the existing retail space into a coffee shop, which is expected to accommodate 20 to 25 patrons at maximum capacity.
Mudhouse Coffee Roasters is a well-known regional chain, operating six locations across the area, including three in Charlottesville, one in Richmond, one in Crozet, and one in Charleston, South Carolina.
The delay in opening this new location was anticipated, as it was previously reported that the current tenant, J. Brown and Co., had two years remaining on their lease. The owner informed ALXnow that it may take up to two years before the coffee shop officially opens its doors to the public.
