New Café Launches in Boorley Green, Offering Quality Coffee and Community Space
A popular tuk tuk-based coffee business has officially expanded its operations with the grand opening of a new café in Boorley Green Community Centre.
Partners in Coffee Establishes Roots
Business partners Alec Smith and Suzanne Williams, known for serving exceptional coffee from their tuk tuk outside the White Building in Southampton, have elevated their independent venture to new heights. Their newly opened café aims to provide locally sourced produce while also serving as a venue for community events.
Overcoming Challenges to Serve the Community
Alec Smith, a resident of Park Gate, reflected on the challenges the business faced during its transition, particularly during the pandemic. “We promise to bring the Boorley Green community good quality coffee, local produce, and a community space,” he stated. He emphasized that Partners in Coffee thrives on the connections formed between their team, local suppliers, and customers.
“It’s been quite a tough journey over the past four years. Suzanne has worked tirelessly, and we have had to remain resilient,” Alec added, highlighting Suzanne’s dedication to managing the trailer at events and daily operations, even during harsh winter conditions.
Community Celebration and Plans
The café’s opening drew a crowd on Saturday, with a line for coffee extending out the door and onto the pavement. Alec noted that Boorley Green is a new housing development and that Partners in Coffee is now positioned to provide a service the area previously lacked.
The café space is designed to be multifunctional; it will not only serve as a coffee shop but also as a venue for functions and community events. Alec explained, “We are a community hub—somewhere to meet for work or hold an evening function.”
He mentioned the possibility of obtaining a license to sell locally sourced wines and beers in the evenings. Plans for live music, including the addition of a piano for open mic events and quiz nights, were also discussed, with Alec expressing optimism about the café’s future. “I think the possibilities are endless,” he concluded.
