The College Savings Club of America (CSCOA), a not-for-profit organization, has introduced a new initiative aimed at tackling generational poverty in coffee-producing areas. The program, titled Coffee with a Cause, is focused on improving access to quality educational resources and career training for children in these communities.
CSCOA highlighted that approximately one billion people worldwide enjoy coffee daily, supporting millions of livelihoods tied to coffee bean production. However, the organization points out that many families in these regions remain ensnared in cycles of poverty.
“What you may not think about is the fact that most families in coffee-producing regions remain trapped in generational poverty,” CSCOA stated. “For children in these families, accessing a quality education is a challenge that severely limits their opportunities to pursue their dreams of a better future.”
The Coffee with a Cause initiative has been launched in various Latin American coffee-producing regions, including Huila and Quindío in Colombia’s Coffee Triangle, as well as Ahuachapán and Concepción de Ataco in El Salvador.
“Through the Coffee with a Cause initiative, coffee becomes more than just a popular beverage—it becomes a way to bring hope and opportunity to children in need,” the organization explained.
To support this initiative, CSCOA has developed its own coffee blend in collaboration with production partners in El Salvador, Guatemala, and Colombia. The organization has committed to reinvesting 100 percent of its profits back into educational programs for orphaned and high-risk children, with a significant portion directed towards the coffee-growing regions that supply their beans.
