Maryland’s Ceremony Coffee Joins Forces with FairWave Collective

by Jessica

Ceremony Coffee Roasters has officially joined FairWave Specialty Coffee Collective, a network of independent specialty coffee brands across the United States, established in 2020.

Founded in 2002, Maryland-based Ceremony Coffee operates a roastery and six coffee shops statewide, becoming the first member from outside the US Midwest to join FairWave’s collective of specialty coffee brands.

Founder Vincent Iatesta will continue to lead Ceremony Coffee, with no changes planned for its retail locations or wholesale operations as part of this transition.

In a statement, Ceremony Coffee announced that FairWave’s investment would enable key upgrades, including system improvements, café renovations, and expanded production capabilities at its roastery in Annapolis.

“The essence of Ceremony will remain the same—our welcoming cafés, friendly baristas, and exceptional coffee will persist, now with enhanced support,” Iatesta said. “Joining the Collective provides us with new resources, systems, and expertise that will further elevate the quality of our offerings, spaces, and culture.”

FairWave, guided by President of Growth Isaac Hodges, aims to offer local specialty coffee brands additional resources, such as operational expertise, economies of scale, and back-of-house support.

“It’s a privilege to welcome Ceremony Coffee Roasters to the FairWave Collective,” Hodges remarked. “Their passion for specialty coffee is clear throughout their organization, and we’re eager to embark on this journey together.”

Ceremony Coffee now joins a network of 12 brands within the FairWave Collective, alongside other notable names like The Roasterie, Messenger Coffee, Spyhouse, and Anodyne Coffee Roasting Co. The Collective also expanded beyond coffee in October 2024 by adding premium tea company Hugo Tea, marking its first non-coffee acquisition.
